Lin-Manuel Miranda is not untalented but he shouldn’t be making billion dollar disney movies or whatever. This guy should be in a garage making deeply earnest but unpolished rap opera concept albums and posting them online for a niche fanbase of no more than 100,000 too-online theatre nerds. Hiring him to make forgettable paint-by-numbers radio friendly disney princess pop is trying to raise devil’s pupfish in captivity. You have to stop giving him money and let him go make cringe in his natural habitat or you’re never going to get anything good.

wh
what does this mean op
Oh no two seperate artist created two separate characters with different silloettes whatever has happened to the animation industry in 73 years??? The Horror!!!
This post is making fun of people who cry about “cal arts art style”
I’m specifically mocking this gif
ah, that.
some fun facts about this: the person who made the original chart the gif is derived from outright lied in order to get their point across by deliberately drawing the characters super off-model…
and “CalArts” as a derogative term didn’t originally refer to bean mouths, soft rounded faces, and what have you. It originally referred to 2D Disney-style animation (specifically, it was in reference to The Iron Giant of all things.) And the person to blame for this is…
drumroll please…
That’s right, John Kricfalusi coined “CalArts Style.”
As in, the convicted pedophile.
As in, the guy who notoriously tortured his animation staff.
HOLY SHIT THE MOUSE FROM TOM AND JERRY IS SANS
Say his name. Don’t look it up. Look me in the eyes right now and tell me the rats name.
i think thats tom
WRONG!
Try again.

god i’m so tired of everybody’s bad faith interpretations of everything. where’s the trust. where’s the forgiveness. where’s the understanding that most things are complex and most people have many layers. and like the black eyed peas once said. where is the love

Hey.
I’m serious when I say I think the sentiment that kindness requires “zero effort” is harmful.
The idea that kind is a thing you can be innately, without having to think or feel anything about it, leaves a gap in the fence where the other idea “if I have unkind thoughts or feelings, I am by nature a bad, unkind person” can slip through.
Listen. That’s bullshit.
Being kind to other people means paying attention to the effect your words and actions have on others, caring about it, and trying to make those effects better. That’s work.
If you have a nasty thought about another person that annoys you and you contain the impulse, hold your tongue, and let it go? That was effort.
If you took time out to really think about something you wanted to say and make sure it would have its intended result without causing accidental harm that you wouldn’t have noticed if you went totally off the cuff? Wow, that took some work!
If you were tired and angry and full of hatred but you still did the dishes so your housemate has something to eat their breakfast off of in the morning, that wasn’t easy.
I don’t think there are magical “kind” people who never have a mean thought and are always selfless and pure. That would be exhausting and impossible.
I’m not a “nice person,” I’m a nasty, bitter, angry, sad person who tries to have good leash manners, control my worst impulses, and not jump on strangers because they don’t deserve that shit from me.
I don’t always succeed, but I’m trying. I’m trying and it’s worth it.

life actually gets better when you leave the house consistently btw like im serious
if you don’t know where to go, just wander! go to the store and don’t buy anything, go to the library just to sit and do whatever you were going to do at home, go to a park and just walk around/sit outside for a bit (weather permitting, of course)
just put some headphones in and walk around the block a couple times if you really have nothing else to do, just getting a bit of air and change of scenery is so good for you
me the first few weeks of forcing myself to go on daily walks (it gets better tho)
i really need tumblr to learn the concept of “if you physically cannot do this then this post is not talking about you” because jesus christ.
@a-spectacular-pigeon you get it.
Absolu-fucking-lutely. My physical inability to go for a wander is one of the most mentally devastating things that has happened to me, as much as I pretend I’m just an antisocial goblin….I now have a habit of being inside. The last time I WENT outside was for a doctors appointment 6 weeks ago.
There are ways I can go outside, it is just difficult and it is something I need to push myself to do. It is one of the reasons I feel better in the summer, I have a pool outside and can go out and be ACTIVE in it and it makes me feel better.
It is not ableism, as rhe beautiful bastard pigeon says…this is a real problem, it is not ableist to discuss how healthy leaving our space is.

I love how natural typing is in Homestuck - like the characters make typos that become stupid injokes:
They fuck up their HTML
They pick up the way others type
It just feels so real I love it
